HVAC equipment is susceptible to many perils, including hail, wind, high voltage surge, and others. When filing claims, policyholders may misattribute the damage to the wrong cause of loss, or assume the damage is worse than it is, requesting full replacement when repair would return the equipment to pre-loss condition.
